New label Kopi Records brews up a banger with Halal Sol's ‘Without That’
The strong debut release on the outfit blends classic house vibes with an energetic modern twist
New Singaporean label Kopi Records releases its debut release; Halal Sol’s ‘Without That’.
Drawing inspiration from Singapore's kopi (coffee) culture, the label aims to cultivate a close-knit community of producers from Singapore and across Southeast Asia, tapping into the region's rich underground soundscape.
Founded by Luca Di Parigi and Bunny Ross, the DJ and producer duo bring with them decades of experience, not just as artists but as seasoned professionals in events and label management, promising a steady stream of releases that span diverse genres, dropping quarterly in a classic A-side/B-side format.
The label’s first offering, Halal Sol’s ‘Without That’, kicks things off with a bang.
Halal Sol blends house nostalgia with his typical modern twist. While it may not be breaking new ground, its infectious groove makes it an earworm that we consistently have returned to.
What really sells us on it is the track’s evolving synths seamlessly transition into uplifting piano melodies, complemented by tight vocal chops that bring it all together. Perfect poolside music.

On the flip side, the ‘Speed Additive Mix’ turns the original on its head, injecting a dose of high-energy, acid-infused goodness.

The acid touch remains subtle and the essence of the original track stays intact, and although we’d like the rework to lean into the acid and speedier elements of the track, it’s still a banger. We think the rework showcases the many elements in a much more exciting light, making it out standout.
It’s a solid debut for this new label, leaving us eager to see what they have in store next.
