(P)ronounce celebrates Indonesia's genre-bending electronic scene at Three Buns Jakarta
The line up features live performances from Batavia Collective, Dekat & Mantra Vutura
A soul-fuelled showcase featuring an eclectic curation of Indonesia and Southeast Asia’s forward-thinking musicians takes place this Wednesday 30, March, as a pre-celebration before fasting starts for Hari Raya Puasa.
(P)ronounce intends to celebrate the wide range of boutique sounds stemming from Jakarta’s treasure trove of a music scene, and with three live acts and four DJ collectives coming together, you can expect high vibrations from some of the city’s refined underground players.
The event is organised by local agency Hura Creative Garage and future-jazz trio Batavia Collective, who were shortlisted by Mixmag Asia as one to watch out for in 2021, and were the first Indonesian artists signed to seminal Belgian imprint, R&S Records.
They will be joined by childhood friends Tristan and Zaki who make up Mantra Vutura, an eclectic duo that oozes depthful levels of neo and modern soul. The duo have had two Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI) nominations under the belt, one for Best Dance Production with their single ‘Un Deux Trois’ and also for Best Urban Duo/Group/Collaboration for ‘Moonlight’ featuring Bam Mastro.
Rounding up the live act programme are musicians Kamga, Chevrina, and Tata who come together as Dekat. A trio who have endured a tumultuous ride of being in the local Indonesian music scene, it’s the latter that led to their formation — you can expect their provocatively romanticised r’n’b sound taking presence at (P)ronounce.
On the ones and twos, (P)ronounce invites Muztang from WestWew, Javabass and the Noisewhore crew.
Hosted by Jakarta’s purveyor of burger culture, Three Buns by Potato Head, (P)ronounce takes place on Wednesday, 30 March from 4pm to 8:30PM. For tickets and more info, head here.
