Preservation digs into his Hong Kong vault to churn out 8 instrumentals on ‘Four Bye Four’
‘Eastern Medicine, Western Illness’ came from the same archive of samples
Coming from the same vault of files that he used to produce the critically acclaimed, and what is perhaps his most exceptional piece of work yet, DJ Preservation recently released eight instrumentals from his Hong Kong archive that built ‘Eastern Medicine, Western Illness’.
‘Four Bye Four’ includes eight instrumentals that are uniquely laced with samples he chopped up from his digs in Hong Kong, and in true Preservation style, all the proceeds from the release will go to City Harvest NYC.
Preservation’s obsession with sounds from the orient has had an undeniable impact on hip hop over the years — his early works are a testament to that, and his most recent projects take the crown.
‘Eastern Medicine, Western Illness’ dropped last year with high appraisal on all fronts, from which Pres followed up with a cinematic piece titled ‘A Cure for the Common’
