Police raid 156-large "Project X" party in Pune
Around US$88,940 worth of items were seized at the unauthorised event, including marijuana & banned hookah flavours
Pune Police's Crime Branch raided an unauthorised party at a bungalow-style resort in the Tulapur area in the early hours of June 7, 2026.
According to Punekar News, a team of 15 officers and 65 constables carried out the operation at around 2:30AM following intelligence about a large gathering with suspected drug use.
The event, reportedly marketed as "Project X", had drawn a crowd that included IT sector workers. Officers found 156 attendees on the premises, three of them under the legal drinking age of 21 in India
Investigators found that the liquor permit for the event was valid only until 11:30PM on June 6, several hours before police arrived.
Officers seized approximately three grams of marijuana, ten banned hookah flavours, and liquor worth around INR9.22 lakh (approximately US$9,647).

The total value of seized items, including DJ consoles, soundsystems and lighting equipment (which were operated without official authorisation), was estimated at INR85 lakh (approximately US$88,940).
Several substances recovered at the venue have been sent for forensic examination, with confirmation of drug use pending lab results and medical examinations.

Individuals from Blaze Entertainment and Star Light Entertainment have been identified as the principal organisers and are being questioned alongside property owners and event managers.
Further charges under the NDPS Act and Excise Act are expected once forensic reports are returned.
