40 creatives contribute to new Palestinian fundraiser compilation, ‘Soli Tunes’

Musical styles explores across the release include techno, hip hop, electro and ambient, while a unique artwork has been made for each track, with the aim of “making each collaboration a multi-faceted piece standing as a testimonial of the arts scene expressing solidarity with those facing cultural erasure.”

Musicians featured include Ahmed Eid, Brikks, dvdv, Leah King, Mad Kate, Nbor, Nour Palestina, Sara Kivi, Sean Tate, Venusloc, Nomadico (Underground Resistance) and more.

Visual artists include Safa, who designed the compilation cover art which features a hand-stitched take on a traditional Palestinian tatreez and photo collage: “Unwritten memories: It should have been me / It could have been me”.

“I remember difficulties I experienced growing up in exile,” says Safa. “I embroidered a tree on my back as nevertheless, I carry this family tree with me. A form of the famous Gaza necklace dominates in the sky, cradling a symbol of my shuffled past, present and future; below it in the sand is an amulet from Yaffa, and above all, a weighty focus on the potential for a different future.”
