OX7GEN unites two generations of Indian breakdancers in ‘Body Mechanics’ MV
With its kinetic groove, the track perfectly matches the energy of the country’s pioneering breakdance crew—The Footloosers
OX7GEN celebrates India’s underground dance heritage with the music video for his single, ‘Body Mechanics’.
The video highlights The Footloosers—Kerala’s pioneering breakdance academy—in a face-off between the crew’s original members and six of their standout new-generation students.
Founded in the late ’80s by Santhosh “Babu Master” Kumar, The Footloosers blend martial arts–inspired motions with raw street energy to create a style that defined early Indian hip hop dance culture.
Over the decades, they’ve choreographed for more than 60 films, leaving an imprint that continues to shape India’s underground dance scene.
The track itself mirrors the physical intensity of breaking. ‘Body Mechanics’ pulses with funky rhythms and mechanical percussion, layered with trippy synths and euphoric melodies over a driving tech house 4x4 beat; a sound built for movement.
“The idea for the video was born out of sheer coincidence,” says OX7GEN. “While listening to the final masters of the record, I stumbled upon a viral clip of the Footloosers breakdancing on a Trivandrum street, their moves syncing perfectly with the rhythm of the title track. I sent the video to Sachin, got on a call with Babu Master, and less than three weeks later, we were in Trivandrum shooting,” he continued.

For Babu Master, the collaboration rekindled the crew’s roots.
He shared: “As students in Trivandrum during the late ’80s, we taught ourselves by copying moves from Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films, before discovering VHS tapes from the West. That’s when we started adding steps from artists like Michael Jackson and Jackie Chan, and became one of the very first breakdancing groups in India.

“We’ve choreographed for many styles over the years, but the energy of ‘Body Mechanics’ felt completely new—and our youngest dancers instantly took to it,” Babu Master emphasises.
Directed by Sachin S. Pillai, the video visually pairs OX7GEN’s futuristic soundscape with the kinetic precision of Kerala’s dance legacy.
