OX7GEN debuts on HE.SHE.THEY with new evolutionary project
The key figure in India’s d’n’b scene goes global on the ambitious ‘Evenire’
Mumbai-based artist OX7GEN releases his latest project ‘Evenire’ today, March 15, via London outfit HE.SHE.THEY.
A transcendent six-tracker that includes three original tracks and their edits, ‘Evenire’ is the most ambitious and musically stylistic we’ve heard from OX7GEN, with elements of trance acid house, techno, and bass all making an appearance on this statement of evolution from one of India’s leading d’n’b artists.
It’s hard to pinpoint this project as each track takes a different sonic route. The closer, ‘W84U’ is an ethereal dreamy house cut perfect for sunrise, whereas ‘Simula Endzone’ is a 4/4 trance anthem made for peak hours at a forest rave.
Our pick from the bunch is ‘Neo Sensei’; with driving basslines always coupled by complimentary almost acid synth lines, this track zigs where others zag. Off-kilter choices in production add to the power and ferocity of the track, which culminates in the euphoric breakdown that we fear may not be appreciated until heard on a booming PA system.
Speaking on ‘Evenire’, OX7GEN mentions, “Although I’ve been known to play and produce drum'n'bass over the years, the songs that came out of my explorations in the new studio in Goa feel like I’ve finally figured out what I want to say, and it’s the most authentic I’ve ever felt as a producer.”

OX7GEN told Mixmag Asia, “In some ways, ‘Evenire’ feels like my first release, although it's definitely not. On this EP, I’ve managed to distil down much of what I’ve been trying to say musically for the last several years, but I was still finding my way technically and stylistically. There’s also so much more music ready to go that this feels like a new beginning.”

He's even hinted at EP number 2 with HE.SHE.THEY dropping as soon as April.
The release lands as HE.SHE.THEY. celebrate its sixth year. The influential event series, label and fashion brand has established itself as a key player in driving more inclusive and diverse clubbing experiences across the world.
