New Soulful Series starts with Hong Kong’s K-Melo on Mixmag Asia Radio
Selector extraordinaire from Jazzy Sport HK
We felt the need to dig into some soulful vibes during this time, to keep things bright, warm and fuzzy, especially for those who are missing a bit of sunshine right now. In a scattered programme of mixes called the Soulful Series, we reached out to Hong Kong’s K-Melo to craft a technically savvy mix with emotive and warm sunshine-grooves that will get you lifted.
He’s considered a tastemaker, a craftsman behind the decks and an overall humble and shy persona in his local scene, and he likes to keep things on the low-key end. Yet, the introversion of Hong Kong’s K-Melo has constantly propelled him to strive to be a master of exquisite selection and technical know-how in his DJ sets. It’s no wonder he is one of Hong Kong’s representatives for Japan’s Jazzy Sport collective — the label family extends to only the finest and most dedicated selectors. K also also runs one of his home city’s favourite club nights, TheGetUp!
His music style is exactly what we’re looking for — house, hip hop and jazz with afro and soul elements. Although we also know to not underestimate his aggressive side of playing to club floors where he churns out raw and deep house with hip hop sensibilities. In this 60 minute special mix for Mixmag Asia Radio, you will hear recent releases from Jitwam, Dego & Kaidit Tatham, Patrick Gibin, Laroye, Centeur Jackson (Osunlade) amongst others.
