W&W and Chrissy Costanza lead the e-gaming world with popular EDM

Music has become an integral part of gaming over the years, like it has with fim, where it serves as more than just an emotive driver for an audience. From impactfully setting a scene to directing and controlling emotions, the music factor affects the way one plays and interacts with their gaming console.

Electronic and dance music, no less, has not only become a large part of a game, but also for e-gaming events. Top tier EDM artists like Alan Walker have performed at major e-gaming events as part of the curated programming, for example, his performance at the closing ceremony of the League of Legends World Championships in 2017, together with Against the Current. Chrissy Costanza, the lead singer of Against the Current, was called upon again to record the official anthem for the 2019 event.

In more current music news from the gaming world, Dutch DJ and producer duo, W&W, just released a single on March 8 2020, with a Chinese mobile video game, Arknights. The single was released as the game’s anthem for the new season, and is titled Operation Barrenland. Released as an exclusive on China’s streaming platform NetEase Music, the track’s popularity dramatically soared, garnering over 11,000 comments in a span of just 5 days.

The symbiotic relationship between the gaming and music industries is a mutually powerful and beneficial one, where experience is enhanced, and both sales and exposure of musicians can reach new boundaries.
