MAQman sends a timely message to the world with 'Healing Process'
His latest collaboration with Joseph Junior arrives in six soul-soothing iterations
Vietnamese artist MAQman returns to release action with the blissed-out 'Healing Process' EP.
The six-track release sees him once again join forces with British singer/songwriter, Joseph Junior, with the pair serving as a soul-soothing assuage to the challenging times we're collectively living through. As fans of the soulful end of the house spectrum, MAQman (real name, Minh Anh Quach) has long been operating at the vanguard of the region's musically-inclined house milieu. 'Healing Process' was originally recorded as a broken beat demo version back in 2006. Though it never received a release at the time, it generated some serious hype on Myspace (remember that?) after it was posted there.

The original mix is included in the bundle, where pulsing funk bass supports shimmering keys and scattered jazz drums as the honeyed vocal glides across the cultured instrumentation. Elsewhere, MAQman's 'Soul Healing Mix' tightens up the rhythm to add focus to the groove, transposing the music into classic soulful house territory, while the 'Deeper Dub' strips things back to provide a hypnotic alternative for heads-down floors. Instrumental and radio versions are also included in the far-reaching bundle, ensuring plenty of tastes are catered for across the slick collection. The release marks a return to the GOGO Music label after a 2-year hiatus, and MAQman feels that the tone and content of the song supplies a tonic to today's troubling times. “'Healing Process' carries a strong message,” MAQman told Mixmag Asia. “[It's] a much-needed feeling the world needs right now.” We couldn't agree more, but you can hear for yourself by checking all mixes below:
