Following his days at TAG. Chengdu, Ben Kaczor delivers debut 6-track LP Sun Chapter One via KCZ/CZT/KCZX

Ben Kaczor has found us a new sound of the future with Sun Chapter One.

Founder of KCZ/CZT/KCZX, a multidisciplinary imprint that embraces various formats from the visual arts to conceptual sound production, and booker-slash-night manager for TAG. Chengdu, Kaczor impresses upon us a six-track LP of vivid, undulating techno.

Over the last four years, the Switzerland-based artist has been unleashing his unabashedly hypnotic take on techno across Europe and Asia, taking inspiration from all the impressions and feelings he experienced living between Chengdu, Koh Mak and being on the road for tours in other parts of China, Thailand, South Korea and Vietnam.

Speaking to Mixmag Asia,TAG.’s former night manager and booker says, “There were so many beautiful and valuable experiences I made, the most important ones were always the experience of meeting new people who shared the same joy for music & art, and no matter from where. I was able to feel this collective during my stay in Chengdu every weekend at TAG. And if the need was there, on top of that there was the Funky Town, which was there every night with open doors.”

For a little taste, Sun Chapter One opens with ten minutes of ethereal feelings through ‘Lights’. ‘The Fool’ brings in heavier saturated drums and dubbed-out chord sequences. The ebb and flow across the album feels deeply personal, and warm.

“I think for me everything was much more intensely perceptible in Asia because I was in a greater state of mindfulness. I was much more aware of everything that surrounded me, from the interesting people and encounters to the most diverse locations. In addition, I very much appreciated the openness of the people there and I was fascinated by the fact how the scenes from Vietnam to China began to network. One feels the energy of a growing phase in which much more is done with heart.”
