Live Nation-owned Ticketmaster invests deeper into South East Asia
Asia remains attractive due to immense long-term growth
One of the world’s largest ticketing companies, Ticketmaster, just announced two new ventures in Asia — a brand new ticketing company in Singapore and a major acquisition of Taiwan’s market leader, Tixcraft. The Singapore news comes as a result of Ticketmaster securing a highly revered seat on the Singapore Sports Hub panel, which is essentially the city’s Sports and Entertainment complex. The total seated capacity Ticketmaster now has access to in Singapore hits the 70,000 mark, as the Sports and Entertainment Complex is incorporated by three core venues: the National Stadium (55,000), the Indoor Stadium (12,000) and the Arena (3,000) plus a few other facilities. U2 just performed at the Indoor Stadium late last year.
Although the acquisition in Taipei has a different strategic approach, the overall impact brings Live Nation into further depths of the structural framework of the entertainment and event industries in the region. President of Ticketmaster International, Mark Yovich, mentioned in a press statement that, “by acquiring market leaders Tixcraft in Taiwan and launching in Singapore, we have established two great bases with talented teams to support the bourgeoning live entertainment scene in Asia. We are introducing greater levels of service and choice to event organisers across the region and can now provide fans with seamless access to our worldwide marketplace of events."
Asia has become a hot zone for ticketing businesses, however, the impact of the Coronavirus has put a halt to the artist booking field, with tours, concerts and shows being cancelled across several countries.
