KORG's KAOSS Pad V lets you touch two affects at once

KORG has updated arguably one of dance music's most recognisable tools.

The KAOSS Pad V keeps the same touch-based interface as earlier models, but this time there’s an additional dual-touch operation which allows two parameters to be controlled at once. Filter and delay, or pitch and reverb can be adjusted together rather than one at a time.

The unit includes a Voice FX engine built for real-time vocal processing. It can add harmonies, pitch-shifted layers and vocoder-style effects, and is designed for use with vocals as well as instrumental tracks.

A dedicated Hi-Z input extends that reach to guitar and bass, letting musicians plug in directly and run their signal through ambient swells, glitch effects and reverb without extra gear.

Sampling gets an upgrade too; users can capture up to eight bars depending on tempo, overdub in real time, and use BPM-synced Gate Hold to keep loops locked to the groove, with several playback and slicing modes for rearranging material on the fly.

On the connectivity side, MIC, LINE and USB inputs can run at the same time, allowing vocals, instruments and computer audio to be combined in one session. A built-in USB audio interface supports recording, streaming and direct use with a DAW without additional hardware.

The KAOSS Pad V also carries over a set of effects from previous KAOSS Pad models, giving users access to older filters and delays alongside the new processing options.
