Hoshina Anniversary drops introspective new LP ‘Rebirth’
The Tokyo-based artist fuses influences from Thom Yorke & Robert Wyatt with Japanese traditional textures
Tokyo-based artist Hoshina Anniversary has just released his latest LP titled ‘Rebirth’ today (September 26).
Building on the ethereal soundscapes of 2023’s ‘Leave Behind’, the album expands his introspective and philosophical vision, rooted in falsetto vocals and electric bass.
The project blurs electronic textures with live instrumentation, resulting in a deeply emotive listen that feels both personal and strikingly original.
While influences from Thom Yorke and Robert Wyatt surface throughout, Hoshina transforms them into something unmistakably his own.

Several tracks revisit and reimagine his watechno era—the fusion of electronic music and Japanese traditional instruments that defined his releases from 2019 to 2023.
Across the record, shifting moods and sonic palettes create a world where chaos and stillness coexist.

The irresistible bass of ‘Utage’, the falsetto eeriness of ‘Kanade’, and the jazz-inflected percussion on ‘Hysteria’ all showcase Hoshina’s ability to weave diverse elements into a cohesive whole.
Held together by his distinctive vocal stylings and tonal consistency, ‘Rebirth’ is a captivating front-to-back listen; one that cements Hoshina Anniversary’s place as one of Tokyo’s most compelling sonic storytellers.
