Hexorcismos presents AI-driven VA 'MUTUALISMX' via Other People
Global contributors use the artist’s neural audio synth, SEMILLA.AI, to craft 13 eclectic tracks
Tijuana-born artist, technologist, and electronic musician Hexorcismos has released the 'MUTUALISMX' compilation, developed in collaboration with Other People, helmed by Nicolás Jaar.
The innovative AI-driven collective music project comes after seven years of dedicated study in AI and generative art, and features a line-up of artists from all over the globe: Kenyan sound artist KMRU, Peruvian experimental instrumentalist Ale Hop, Hunanese-American artist Kloxii Li, Lebanese writer Jessika Khazrik, Mexican multimedia artist Daniela Huerta, and more.
‘MUTUALISMX’ centres around SEMILLA.AI, an innovative neural audio synthesis tool created by Hexorcismos himself. Drawing inspiration from a Mesoamerican maize-throwing ritual, SEMILLA.AI is said to be able to “learn, morph, and merge sonic identities”.
Adopting a 'small data' model and steering clear of the pitfalls of 'big data' and cultural biases, Hexorcismos reflects his idiosyncratic artistic vision. The result is a compilation that flows seamlessly like a solo artist's album or an innovative DJ mix.
Each of the 13 tracks maintains its individuality while contributing to a cohesive musical journey, unrestricted by genre.

Hexorcismos contributes two tracks to 'MUTUALISMX.' ‘¿Acaso de veras se vive con raíz en la Tierra?’ blends tribal guarachero with AI power, while ‘Interferencias’ is a collaboration with Mexican club veteran El Irreal Veintiuno, bringing together dancefloor rhythms mixed with frozen drones and radio static.

Via this release, Hexorcismos aims to propose an alternative future, free from the constraints of academia, capitalist enterprises and Western norms; where independent work is valued and celebrated, fostering an environment where creativity can thrive.
A true multidimensional listening experience, 'MUTUALISMX' extends its fresh concept to its artwork, conceived by the Chilean duo hypereikon, who utilized AI techniques to symbolise technology's potential, reflecting the album's political stance.
