Fuji Rock 2025 draws 122,000 attendees over four days

Fuji Rock Festival’s 28th edition at Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata drew a total of 122,000 attendees over four days (July 24–27), including its pre-festival night.

This year marked the first time the festival announced its line-up by day, a change intended to help fans plan their visits more effectively.

Several artists performed in Japan for the first time, including Fred Again.., whose live set (an Asia debut) on the Green Stage became one of the weekend’s defining moments.

Japanese singer-songwriter Yamashita Tatsuro delivered a first-ever Fuji Rock performance, attracting a multi-generational audience with his signature city pop sound.

Attendance was recorded at 16,000 for the pre-festival night on July 24, 33,000 on July 25, 39,000 on July 26, and 34,000 on July 27. Single day tickets for Saturday and three-day passes sold out ahead of the event.

This year also saw the debut of the ORANGE ECHO stage, dedicated to Japanese and other Asian artists, with stage designs drawing from regional traditions.

The line-up included reggae-soul innovators ASOUND and freestyle artist Chinza Dopeness.

“Celebrating the 28th edition of Fuji Rock Festival, we welcomed 122,000 visitors across four days starting with the Thursday night pre-festival,” Smash-Ohta, the festival’s organiser, told Mixmag Asia.

He continues: “With daily line-up announcements, two headliners making their Japan debut, and the launch of the Japan-Asia-themed ORANGE ECHO stage, this year was full of exciting new challenges. We are grateful that Saturday one-day tickets and full three-day passes sold out. To all the attendees, performers, staff, and everyone involved—thank you from the bottom of our hearts. See you next year.”
