Elephante delivers a bold soundtrack of resilience & emotional depth via ‘COPE’
“Sonically, the album travels to a lot of different places,” says the artist on his release, which drops today
Tim Wu aka Elephante returns with his most introspective work yet titled ‘COPE’, which dropped today (November 29) via his label Hidden Horizon.
Known for fusing melodic electronic dance music with pop, rock, and blues influences, the Harvard graduate-turned-producer continues to push sonic boundaries while delivering deeply personal narratives.
His career spans hundreds of millions of streams, plus performances at major festivals like EDC Las Vegas and Head in the Clouds.
Born to Taiwanese immigrants and raised in Michigan, Elephante’s journey from corporate consultant to full-time artist epitomises resilience—themes echoed deeply in his new album.
Elaborating on how the album's sound mirrors this thematic diversity, Elephante shares exclusively with Mixmag Asia: “Sonically, the album travels to a lot of different places—bright happy dance pop, to dark d’n’b, to vulnerable melodic bass, and brash hyperpop. Personally, I don't set out to make songs in a certain genre—I like to explore what the song feels like and let that dictate what kind of production it needs.”
The album’s focus single, ‘Taste of Your Tongue’, featuring babyidontlikeyou, is a standout example of Elephante’s ability to pair emotionally charged storytelling with top-quality production.
Driven by punchy beats and shimmering synths, the upbeat track captures the bittersweet allure of revisiting past relationships, tinged with both exhilaration and regret. Its energy mirrors the whirlwind of emotions tied to nostalgia and flawed romance.

“‘Taste of Your Tongue’ is a song about nostalgia, and looking back with rose-coloured glasses at an old relationship that didn't work out. As time goes on, we forget the bad and remember the good, and sometimes we make mistakes trying to recapture the magic…and sometimes you just gotta say ‘fuck it’, and have that fling that you know you shouldn't.”
In addition to showcasing a kaleidoscope of genres and moods, ‘COPE’ is enriched by collaborations, with six of its ten tracks featuring fellow artists who bring their unique flair to the album.

Opening track ‘Say It Like You Mean It’ featuring Ridgely gently kicks off the listening experience with heartfelt vocals atop anthemic, uplifting melodies that escalate into a euphoric drop, while ‘Leave The Ground’ featuring Amber Liu brings soaring, emotive hooks that feel like a cathartic release.
‘Amends’ takes a darker turn, weaving haunting vocals with a dramatic d’n’b rhythm, while ‘Forever Weather’ leans into ethereal textures, offering a moment of introspective calm.
