Dubstep meets tribal on latest EP from Dayzero

Tokyo-based producer Dayzero dropped his latest EP, ‘The Sixth Sense’, out now with TREKKIE TRAX.

This eight-track project delves into the concept of the sixth sense, weaving everyday sensations and occurrences into its fabric through field recordings. While these elements might not always be immediately noticeable, that may well be a testament to the seamless execution of the concept.

Dayzero effortlessly blends unique foley sounds with spacey, psychedelic effects, all anchored by its always-innovative tribal percussion. The basslines draw from dubstep, breaks, and other UK-centric sounds, which when used in this style, pair perfectly.

There are few projects we’ve heard in recent memory that sound remotely like this, and each track bursts with personality and innovative and fresh ideas.

‘Asa Nagi’ delivers minimalism and dub, ‘Escape’ channels psychedelic tribal forest-festival techno, while ‘Selekta’ showcases mind-bending sample work.
