Without a doubt, DJs For Climate Action make environmentalism cool. Not that it needs to be cool, it is what is and it needs our attention, but they do it in a way that makes you want to do more, and they pair it with really good green music.

DJs4CA for short, the crew are on a mission to harness the power of the electronic music community to generate climate action, sowing the seeds for a global community of electronic music makers who find themselves drawn to the climate and social justice movement. We’ve covered their initiatives a lot (go on, guys) and now we’re supporting their latest announcement which is an open call aimed to bring venues, artists and promoters around the world to bring their Future Vision alive this Earth Night, their annual flagship festival which lands this year on April 22 - 24.

“This year, we are inviting party people across the globe to join us in making 2022 a year without compromise, to prove that our collective vision can be a true reality for our scene.”

Earth Night is an annual event hosted by DJs4CA which bands together creatives — anyone from DJs to venues, promoters and dancers — to put on a for-the-planet performance and beam it across the internet in honour of Earth Day. Founded by artists like Eli from Soul Clap and Sammy Bananas, past iterations have received support from names like Little Boots, Dillon Francis, Soul Clap, Jamie Jones and A-Trak.

“Earth Night is a moment to awaken our collective greatness for a supreme cause: To raise awareness about climate change and our impact as DJs on the planet.

The 2022 edition will be the fifth such event. Prior to the pandemic, the event expanded to seven cities across the globe and raised more than $10,000 for climate charities. In 2020, the event was pushed online and created the largest global B2B live stream with 100 artists from 70 cities across 5 continents. With clubs still closed, in 2021 they partnered with Greenpeace to produce a day and night of global b2b music sets and panel discussions on the role of music and culture in climate action including Music Declares Emergency, Climate Live, Fridays For Future, Simon Mejia (Bomba Estereo), Fakear (Ninja Tune), Eli Goldstein (Soul Clap), Clubtopia, Kpop4Planet and more.

Interested in making moves for the 2022 event? Here are the steps:

1. Choose a Climate Positive concept or activation in your city
2. Invite a Line-up exclusively of local DJs
3. Imagine how you can use the event to build community / raise money / etc.

And so on.

DJs4CA have compiled a handy Earth Night Toolkit so you can start imagining the world you’ll create this April. Download it here as well as get answers to all your questions and see some past examples of similar activations to help inspire you.

“INVITATION: We’re calling on venues, promoters, DJs and dancers across the globe to join us in this initiative. We’ve created guidelines to help expand what’s possible for your local nightlife community, engage with the movement and be a part of EARTH NIGHT!"

The fifth annual edition of Earth Night will take place April 22-24, 2022 during the week of Earth Day. More info on previous Earth Nights here.
