Dexter Colt delivers introspective deep house for debut EP on Darker Than Wax
The 5-track EP includes a breakbeat remix from Indonesian producer Munir
Dexter Colt’s debut EP ‘Train of Thought’ is one hell of a blissful ride; 5 original tracks and a remix from Indonesia’s analogue wizard Munir, Colt has delivered a stunning and reflective body of works, out now on Singapore imprint Darker Than Wax.
Invoking a sense of timelessness, Colt takes undivided inspiration from 90s, Detroit-style and classic house; packed with lush sounds from an array of synths, soft pads and deep tones that transport you through house nostalgia. ‘Train of Thought’ EP stands as a testament to the Singapore-based producer and DJ’s extensive knowledge of dance music, and his ability to craft tracks that are simultaneously uplifting and introspective.

The opening track ‘AM To PM’ is a slow-burner that sets the mood with minimal yet deliciously heady notes. Coming in on the remix tip, Indonesian boogie maestro Munir later transforms it into a funky, electro-influenced number that's perfect for the dancefloor.
‘U Feel Me’ builds dancefloor pressure with crisp claps and a rhythmic, undulating bassline that's impossible to resist. ‘Spiralling’ is a seductive track with acidic squiggles for that psychedelic essence, reminiscent of Fatima Yamaha. ‘Off The Brons’ is a straightforward floor filler with punchy drums and chopped vocals stealing the show — stripped-down house, where simplicity prevails.
