Deefo drops a double single for North of Neptune debut
The Jakarta-based talent brings his signature sublime house sounds to Lee Foss’ imprint with 'Make You Move' & 'Dark Sky'
Deefo’s latest double single release 'Make You Move' is out today via Lee Foss’ North of Neptune imprint, delivering a dose of funky, raw, and irresistibly smooth house across both tracks.
The title track, 'Make You Move' exudes a raw ghetto house funk packed with attitude. With menacing male rapping juxtaposed with soulful female interjections, the track rides on a dirty bass groove that keeps the energy flowing.
On the B-side, 'Dark Sky' offers a seductive house sound with its smooth, low-slung drums. It perfectly balances depth and drive, featuring textured percussion and a lush vocal hook. Playful synth patterns add a delightful touch, giving the track a lot of charm. The track's slightly off-kilter approach to traditional house is part of its undeniable charm.
Mixmag Asia caught up with Deefo about the project, with him saying, "The idea of these tracks was to focus on what I've been listening to lately and keep it quite simple. Firstly, I searched for the sample of the vocals (trying to chop, cut, and manipulate, etc.), which I then love putting underneath some raw drums and bass and blending with some catchy synth and percussions."
