Daniel Arsham collabs with RIMOWA to release limited edition turntable & case

Taking a nod to how DJs used to carry their vinyl and equipment in the 90s, Daniel Arsham takes his next eroded sculpture to the skies with RIMOWA to create a signature piece that pairs with a pilot case.

Both pieces highlight the finest craftsmanship from the two brands. Daniel Arsham’s fossilised, life-sized turntable is made from white plaster with hints of crushed glass. Each part of the piece is carefully created to replicate its real-life form that includes pitch controls, counterweight, needle, headshell, tonearm and of course an Arsham x RIMOWA vinyl. As fragile as the sculpture is, RIMOWA’s anodized aluminium resilient case becomes the perfect protector for this piece of art.

The case comes in two colour tones — silver and black — and is adorned with customized Arsham logos and travel stickers scattered across the luxury pilot bag. As with any other RIMOWA luggage bag out there, it comes with all of RIMOWA’s functionalities and a warranty that lasts a lifetime.

The Eroded Turntable in Pilot Case combines the interest of both parties, evident from their first collaboration to this most recent one. “RIMOWA and I share an interest in the process, in an object’s evolution over time,” said Arsham. The pilot case was a popular RIMOWA classic back in the 1990s and Arsham’s Future Relics series of archaeological objects that stood in time made the perfect combination for this creation.

This limited edition bag and sculpture will only have 1,000 pieces available worldwide; 500 in silver available in the Americas and Europe, while the other 500 in black will be available only in Asia. The price tag is a hefty S$5,720.00 and sits with the measurements of 42 x 50 x 23 cm and weighing in at 4.3kg.

We’re not surprised if DJs start picking up on the 90s trend again by taking this pilot bag on tour.
