Boards of Canada posters spotted all around the world

A series of posters featuring Boards of Canada's recognisable art style and a logo associated with the sibling duo have appeared all over the globe.

Posters were first noticed by fans in different locations around the world, including London's Mare Street and Soho, inside Tokyo venue LIQUIDROOM, across restaurant fronts in New York, and along Hollywood's Walk of Fame landmark.

Fans began sharing photos of the posters in the Boards of Canada Reddit thread earlier this week, before the beloved producers' long-time label Warp Records confirmed speculation by sharing photos of the posters on April 14.

Details around what they're promoting are currently scarce.

The posters each feature a hexagonal logo in the bottom corner, the same one that appeared across mysterious VHS tapes that were sent to regular buyers of Warp's releases via Bleep’s distribution service last week.

A Reddit user posted a recording of a tape that they received, which featured a flickering copyright warning statement alongside shortwave radio sounds and a distorted vocal.

One fan noted that the tape’s contorted music is a “backwards” play of The Elegants’ ‘Little Star’, used by the elusive Scottish duo in their ‘Societas X Tape’, a two-hour mixtape broadcast on NTS Radio in 2019.

The posters further add to speculation that a new Boards of Canada release - their first in over a decade - could be on its way. It would follow 2013’s ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’, which also featured a cryptic pre-release campaign.

Check out some photos of the posters below.
