Thailand's B2TG Festival announce dazzling line-up for upcoming Songkran event

Thailand's Back 2 The Groove Festival returns to its Koh Tao base for the third iteration of the popular subterranean music event. The impressive line-up has now been fully revealed, while the organisers have also shared news of a venue change to accommodate an influx of Songkran inspired party-goers.

Heading the far-reaching artist roster is celebrated Parisian DJ, producer, and Home Invasion label boss, Franck Roger, while Berlin's beloved Bar25 founder Danny Faber swoops in to embellish the event with his distinctive nocturnal flavour. Elsewhere in the imaginative line-up, Koh Tao resident and full moon party hero Boyonic brings authentic Koh Pha Ngan party spirit, and Bangkok-based Rocco Universal flies in hot on the heels of his recent release on US label, Soul Clap Records. Completing the schedule, a carefully chosen spread of local talent including Jirus, Mo Funk, and Mizuyo will be ably supported by the reliable B2TG residents, spreading out their infectious vibrations across the main stage, special warm-up events, and an unmissable boat party.

"We are very happy to welcome all these great artists in Ko Tao for this third edition,” B2TG event director Christophe Chom's told Mixmag Asia, before elaborating on the decision to change the venue. “We just needed to switch our base event to be able to guarantee comfort and safety to our guests, but the partygoers will have nice surprises!” The team have been working feverishly to ensure the celebrations run smoothly, and Christophe shared that he's relished the challenge, having been drafted just three weeks before the event date. “We have an amazing team with Kandoo onboard and the dynamic locals like Skinny Mark and Sun Dance crew. The event has really raised enthusiasm here and we are good to go!"

The first two B2TG events were hugely successful, seeing large crowds flock to Koh Tao to lose themselves in authentic underground dance sounds. This year, the addition of Songkran to the mix meant the organisers felt compelled to take logistical action to help accommodate the rush of revellers. The main event was originally scheduled to take place at AWOL and Hin Wong bay but has now been moved to Sun Dance on the popular Sairee Beach.

For those uninitiated, Songkran is the name given to Thailand's unique New Year festivities. Over the years, traditional water splashing has evolved into a full-blown three-day water fight, but since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the local authorities have pushed pause on the aquatic revelry in the name of public safety. However, the green light was given for celebratory events to take place this year, paving the way for the B2TG team to resume their underground activity from their idyllic island base.

B2TG 3 takes place on Koh Tao, Thailand between April 14-16. You can find out more here
