Avicii's music hardware and other personal items to be auctioned in aid of mental health charity

Avicii’s personal belongings, including clothes, shoes, musical instruments and other memorabilia, are being auctioned to raise money for The Tim Bergling Foundation, a mental health charity set up by the late producer's family following his death in 2018.

The charity auction will be held by AuktionsVerk (the world's oldest auction house) on October 1 at 3:PM CEST.

A full list of the 267 items available to bid on (all of which have been donated by Tim Bergling's family) will be published via AuktionsVerk’s website on September 6.

A world-renowned DJ and producer, Tim Bergling sadly died in April 2018 when the musician took his own life at the age of 28 while on holiday in Muscat, Oman.

The Tim Bergling Foundation was founded in 2019 to honour his legacy by helping young people struggling with mental health issues.

“In light of our loss, a loss that is indescribable as parents, but also to Tim's friends, colleagues in the music business and millions of Tim's fans around the world, we felt we should make sure that Tim's legacy is used to help in ways that can hopefully make a difference in some important areas.” reads a statement from Avicii's parents on the charity's website.

Some of the work that the foundation does includes advocating for suicide to be recognised as a global health crisis, conducting mental health-related reports and working with schools to remove the stigma attached to mental health issues. It also holds an annual music festival Together For A Better Day.

The announcement of the upcoming auction follows the release of two commemorative materials produced in collaboration with The Tim Bergling Foundation. In June, a new documentary, I’m Tim, premiered at the Tribeca film festival, while a new photobook, Avicii: The life and music of Tim Bergling, was also released, bringing never-seen-before photographs of the much-loved producer to public view.

Speaking on the auction, Cecilia Gave, CEO of Auktionsverk, said: "Tim Bergling touched countless people worldwide and continues to do so both through his music and the foundation the family has established in his name. It's a true honour to support The Tim Bergling Foundation to help even more young people. We have 350 years of experience passing on the artifacts of some of history's most prominent cultural figures and consider it a privilege."
