Apple Music 1 invites Seoul Community Radio for a 4-hour takeover

Online music broadcaster Seoul Community Radio (SCR) is set to host a four-hour showcase on Apple Music 1.

Airing Friday, March 24 at 4pm PST (Saturday, March 25, 7am (GMT+8)), the showcase marks a first Asian underground radio takeover on Apple’s 24/7 music radio station.

The crew joins the ranks of global K-pop superstar group, BTS, and The New Seoul in officially curating an Apple Music 1 takeover from South Korea.

Since 2016, SCR’s goal has been to “grow fresh sounds and new faces”. Successfully doing so has allowed them to co-create a regional network of like-minded radio stations and collaborate with major names not just in music but also fashion and technology.

Through SCR’s four-hour takeover for the DJ Mix Show, Apple Music 1 explores the K-electronic culture on a deeper level and, for the first time ever, showcases the sounds of the South Korean underground to their massive global audience.

As of 2022, Apple Music 1 have garnered an estimate of 88 million subscribers.

The content for the takeover will comprise highlights from Hajodaze — SCR’s summer festival series that took place last year — while teasing what’s to come for their 2023 edition.

Sets from Didi Han, DJ Co.kr, Kayon, July, Bolm and Cozyhoon will be featured in the showcase, which will be opened by a 30-minute special live performance from Korean-Australian rap crew, 1300.

Check out the run times for SCR’s takeover on Saturday, March 25 below:

- 1300: 7am (GMT+8)
- Didi Han: 7:30am (GMT+8)
- Co.Kr: 8:30am (GMT+8)
- Kayon: 9:30am (GMT+8)
- Cozyhoon x July x Bolm: Saturday, 7am (GMT+8)

The takeover show marks SCR’s launch as official Apple Music DJ Mix Curators and a long-term partnership between the two platforms, expanding SCR’s long-term mission of providing a global platform for Korean underground music and culture.

Throughout the year, SCR will regularly upload mixes recorded from its Itaewon studio to Apple Music 1.
