If you’re reading this, we can only imagine you’re as smitten with Butch as we are. His story started in Germany at the age 11 when a DMC championship mesmerized his mind. Fast forward through hip-hop, graffiti, Sankeys Ibiza, Cocoon, Rekkids and even a “psycho-acoustic” project to a present day with Visionquest, Hot Creations, a residency at Watergate, making music with Ricardo Villalobos and Seth Troxler, a vinyl only release on Drumcode and finally…Asia.
His bio equally as captivating: In Pulp Fiction, the taxi driver asks Bruce Willis why he’s called Butch. He says ‘I'm American, honey. Our names don't mean shit.’ That’s why I chose it. Like in the movie, the name means nothing - because he’s not here to dazzle or intimidate, he’s here to play.
Butch arrives in Asia this week with gigs in Singapore and Thailand. Naturally, we were curious to pick his mind as to his intentions while over here and as expected, they are as eclectic as expected. Butch's Asian bucket list, as follows:
"Hello friends, Butch here. I am coming over to Asia and we all know Asia is amazing. There are a few things that I definitely need to check out before I go back to Germany. So, without further ado, here is my Asian Bucket List..."
1 A picture painted by a woman’s vagina
"You know me, still same OG. Women are powerful and creative and can actually paint pictures with their pussys. A friend of mine has a picture that says “Welcome to Bangkok, Thilo” painted by a woman with her vagina. I need one of those too, as a souvenir for my wife."
2 Vitality Air
"Who doesn’t want to pay $40 for a nice breath of fresh air. Awesome!"
3 Suicide nets
...to keep people from jumping out of the Apple production company
"I want to use my iPhone to take pictures of the suicide nets. Anyone who thought I have any sense of discretion will now know better."
4 Bak Kut Teh
"Ok, ok, I’m sorry. Serious bucket list items, now. I’ll be in Singapore and in Khao Yai, so what do I want to do there? In Singapore I want to eat some good Bak Kut Teh and Wanton Mee. Khao Yai is a must see in itself, oh yeah!"
"My only real bucket list item is: you guys! All you music peeps in Thailand and Singapore! Damn the food and the beautiful places, they’re worth nothing if I don’t see you. I’m coming over to meet and party with you guys. Let’s do it!"
Butch plays Friday February 3rd @ Mystic Valley Festival in Thailand & Saturday February 4th @ Kilo Lounge in Singapore.
