History was made during Because Music's Beaubourg event at the Pompidou Centre in Paris on Saturday — here are all the tracks from Thomas Bangalter's first DJ set in 16 years
Well, did anyone see that coming? Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter sent dance music fans into a state of meltdown on Saturday night with a surprise performance at Because Music's Beaubourg event alongside Fred again.., Busy P (AKA Pedro Winter) and Erol Alkan with his first DJ set in 16 years, and his first sans robot helmet in some 24 years. It also marked the last event in Paris' Pompidou Centre for five years as the iconic arts venue undergoes renovations, which are due to be completed in 2030.
In a post shared via Instagram, Fred again.. spoke on the significance of the one-off event, writing: "Thomas told me in this lift on the way down to the show that the first time he fell in love with electronic music was in this building in 1992. He also told me that he hasn’t played a proper set without the mask on for 24 years - I didn’t know what to say to either of those things and I still don’t."
