Wonderfruit launches Field Tapes, a label born from the spirit of The Fields

Wonderfruit launches Field Tapes, a new record label carrying the spirit of the fields beyond the festival.

Its first full-length release titled ‘A Cinematic Journey’ comes from Parisian artist Tristan Bres and will be out on November 7.

As Wonderfruit continues to evolve far beyond its flagship festival, the newly launched label aims to become a home for music that embodies the brand’s core values, extending its spirit well past the main weekend.

The label will officially drop its inaugural release on October 16 with a project originally produced for a Solar Village sunrise set at Wonderfruit 2024.

‘Solar’ captures the moment perfectly, with euphoric synth risers, tingle-inducing piano motifs, and an atmosphere that mirrors the awe and serenity of sunrise at The Fields.

The track will be followed by a second single titled ‘Burning’; a sharp yet emotive shift in tone that balances intensity and drama with Wonderfruit’s signature euphoria.

‘A Cinematic Journey’ incorporates analogue warmth through modular synths, tape echoes, acoustic piano, and Rhodes, melding a heady set of inspirations including Radiohead, Boards of Canada and Massive Attack, that culminates in eight tracks overflowing with grace and artistic expression.

“After more than a decade of building Wonderfruit with our community of artists and partners, launching Field Tapes is a natural next step,” explains Phuong Le, Music Director of Wonderfruit.

“It allows us to extend the spirit of Wonderfruit into the world—through our own projects like Sonic Minds and Intermission, collaborations with international artists and most importantly by supporting the incredible talent across our local and regional scene. With Field Tapes, we want to create a wider platform of recognition and connect the sounds of Asia with audiences everywhere,” she adds.
