Wonderfruit calls upon Richie Hawtin, Gui Boratto, Nicola Cruz, Roots Manuva & more

Thailand's pioneering sustainable and cross-cultural live celebration of arts, music and ideas is back for round four with early bird tickets already a thing of the past and phase one tickets well into their sale period.

Wonderfruit was built upon six pillars: Arts, Music, Family, Farm to Feasts, Talks & Workshops and Wellness & Adventures and today the first details surrounding each of its pillars have been released.

The first phase of the music line-up see Richie Hawtin top billed (YES!) along with Brazilian house legend Gui Boratto who will inevitably light up Wonderfruit’s legendary after-hours destination The Quarry, British hip-hop artist Roots Manuva is slated to perform with a full band, psychedelic trio Khruangbin from Texas will without a doubt embody the Wonderfruit spirit with their Thai-Molam soundscapes, and lending the soundscape some Thai flavor is Khun Narin and his electric phin band. In addition to that are English songstress Izzy Bizu, Nicola Cruz from Ecuador and Danish techno maverick Be Svendsen will also join the line-up.

In the culinary department, Morimoto Bangkok will be on site with their award-winning sushi and sake and Straight Outta Thonglor will keep the tunes, dishes and drink flowing all weekend. Clean Food Caravan will provide a healthy pop-up food station and the Thailand young famers have already begun their FARMacy initiative that will act as a dispensary of natural organic and homegrown remedies.

Meanwhile Burning Man’s Gregg Fleishman will return with the stunning Solar Stage and is currently working on a total makeover while Marvel’s Adam Pollina will turn his creative talents to designing The Quarry this year. You can also look out for a biomorphic alien creation by Filipino artist-designer Leeroy New as well as and interactive sculptural representation of Punyisa Silparassamee’s childhood Chinese dragon festival toy. California-based multi-disciplinary artist Tigre Bailando is onboard to build a sanctuary for discovery and healing and Hong Kong based yogi Rosemary Vandenbroucke along with Martha Collard and her soothing gong baths will be back by popular demand.

In previous years there have been plenty of pioneering eco-friendly initiatives like making the event carbon positive and planting mangrove trees in Myanmar for ever 'Mangrove Drink' sold. This year, the event has dreamed up something even more special: they are planning to pay selected artists and collaborators in TREE tokens, a cryptocurrency backed by natural capital and traded on the blockchain.

Wonderfruit return to The Fields at Siam Country Club, just 150 kilometers or a two hours drive southeast of Bangkok, from 14th to 17th December. Tickets are on sale here for US$147 (THB5,000 or £115).
