Vridian dives deep on latest four-track EP 'Khyber'
Subterranean soundscapes primed for late-night floors
New Delhi-based producer Vridian rides in with his latest release, serving four nocturnally-charged cuts on the 'Khyber' EP.
Populating the topography between abstract electronica, deep house and melodic techno, Vir RC's Vridian project revels in the dance underground's melancholic outer reaches. Having released music on labels including Manjumasi and Proton Music, 'Khyber' sees him return to Qilla Records in a typically uncompromising mood.
The EP launches via the rolling rhythms and evocative pads of 'Basantar' before upping the tempo for the hallucinatory swirls of 'Caspian Sea'. The title track sees sub-rooted bass power alien sweeps and aberrant synth textures, while Manjumasi founder atish joins the fray on the brooding closer 'Postlude'.
Presenting four varied but coherent tracks that are sure to appeal to lovers of pitch-black electronica, 'Khyber' is steeped in nocturnal allure and saucer-eyed atmospherics.
