Goldie steps away from drum 'n' bass with his new label 1HX

It’s been a creatively busy year for Goldie MBE — he recently just unveiled the contemporary and urban art-focused Aurum Gallery in Bangkok which he both conceptualised and curates, and now he’s sharing through both releases and gigs, his new musical diversion away from the drum ‘n’ bass arena, 1HX.

1HX is a dance focused imprint that falls outside of his usual drum ’n’ bass remit, giving the knighted DJ a far more vast outlet to both produce for and curate a fresh label that’s detached from Metalheadz. The imprint together as a pan-Asian affair that speaks between his sister project Fallen Tree 1Hundred, birthed out of Thailand, and 1 Hundred Studios in Kuala Lumpur.

The label’s first release with UK’s iami stayed true to the artist’s signature sounds of garage and breaks, but refined for 1HX to create a 4-track EP of silken grooves. 1HX002 is a sonic gathering from across the world, bringing Kuala Lumpur native CRLY and London’s Westseven. Both artists in their own right have extensive backgrounds — CRLY has been known for his releases with Box of Cats, House Party Records and Bullfinch, which holds up to Westseven’s affair with Anjunadeep and Soul de Anima.

‘Something Special’ and ‘Give Life’ comprise the forthcoming two-track player, and it comes heavily loaded heartfelt and warm vibes, stripped back ambience and sweet vocals.

CRLY x Westseven ‘Something Special / Give Life’ us out now as a Beatport exclusive which you grab here, and will be available on all other major platforms on November 20 on 1HX.
