The White Lotus theme tune is taking dancefloors by storm

The theme tune to HBO’s dark comedy-drama The White Lotus has become a dancefloor staple.

The track ‘Renaissance’ was written by the show’s Emmy Award-winning composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer who also created season one’s title track ‘Aloha!’.

Starting off with a melodic harp and operatic vocals the tune gradually builds up into a yodelling remix that drops one minute in with a naughty drum beat.

Since airing, the song has taken over social media, especially TikTok as well as at DJ sets across the globe.

French blend connoisseur Teki Latex, who opened his set at The Lab LDN with the track earlier this month before dropping it at fabric, tweeted: "Part of the duty of the DJ is to incorporate in their set the hot songs that are relevant to the culture at this very moment. Right now it's the White Lotus season 2 opening theme. I don't make the rules."

Earlier this month, Meredith Music Festival in Victoria, Australia was just one of many places that saw the track play out along with a Jennifer Coolidge sign spotted around the event.

Singer and Euphoria star Dominic Fike also dropped the track at the end of his show in New York with The Killers also doing the very same whilst on their tour.

“It’s really unexpected,” Cristobal Tapia de Veer told Buzzfeed about the theme’s viral success.

“Unlike producing the stuff for a band or my own record, this is never the intent for a show. It’s always about serving the show and not thinking really about a stand-alone hit or single or anything like that. So it’s kind of the cherry on top.”

“It feels like it’s club-friendly already,” he added. “It feels like a party and just an all-out celebration.”

The new season set in Sicily also has a fresh new cast including Theo James, F. Murray Abraham, Aubrey Plaza, Adam DiMarco, Haley Lu Richardson, Meghann Fahy, Michael Imperioli and more alongside returning cast members Jennifer Coolidge and Jon Gries.

Season two of The White Lotus is available in full to watch on HBO with season three recently confirmed.
