The Void Noize presents Drab Majesty live at This Town Needs in Hong Kong
First Hong Kong show for the US duo
Hong Kong collective The Void Noize will present US electronic duo Drab Majesty live on 13 February, 2020 at This Town Needs.
Drab Majesty’s first record was the 2012 EP Unarian Dances, which was re-released in 2014 on Lolipop Records. Drab Majesty’s sound has been described as a ‘ethereal washes of icy keyboards and arpeggiated synthesizers’, with heavy mechanized percussion and pulsing synth bass, the use of reverb and delay makes them sound sound like music from the echo chamber of a hallowed cathedral.
Furthermore, the pair purport to ‘commune directly with their spiritual muse and assumed alter-ego Deb Demure, to demonstrate the power in relinquishing ownership to a divine design, thereby handing inspiration over to the spirit world – essentially serving as a contractor in business with the Collective Consciousness’.
The Void Noize is a local Hong Kong event promoter, whose aim is giving opportunities to the next generation of local creative youth. With their slogan ‘WE MAKE NOIZE AT THE VOID AGE’ they state the following manifesto: To be born in the generation with information overload, young adults have their own thoughts and attitude on independent music, fashion, visual arts and culture. They would try their best to create their own voice to survive in this hectic society. Giving up being mainstream, not to care too much about being rich or being famous, they act for their passion with no regrets. There’s only one thing they need, the need to express themselves in this world with nothingness. Tickets are available here.
