The Prodigy have reportedly changed the lyrics to ‘Smack My Bitch Up’
The band's now-lead singer Maxim has performed an amended version of the 1997 track in recent gigs
The Prodigy have changed the lyrics to their track ‘Smack My Bitch Up’.
Released in 1997, on album ‘The Fat of the Land’, the track was later voted in 2012 as the most controversial song of all time in a poll by the Performing Right Society — despite its popularity at time of release.
Even though it is known as one of the group's most popular tracks with over 100 million streams on Spotify, the band decided 26 years later to change the lyrics.

With claims that the song “glamourised domestic violence”, the band had previously refused to agree with this statement and have said according to Sky News that the lyrics mean "doing anything intensely".
However, The Sun has reported that at the band's recent gigs, Maxim - the now lead singer since the death of Keith Flint - has been singing "change my pitch up" instead of the controversial chorus.
The Prodigy are yet to officially announce the change in lyrics yet have been heard singing the new line at both shows at London’s Alexandra Palace.
Earlier this year, a website unearthed rare demos, hidden gems and live recordings from the band which had never been heard before.
