The music industry is going to love Japanese designer KENZO’s new perfume commercial

Japanese designer Kenzo has just dropped an advert for its new fragrance line called KENZO World and not only is it artistically amazing but the soundtrack has the speakers blasting in the Mixmag Asia office. Sadly, there are no bass bins in the office…

The tune is a wild Dancehall stomper called 'Mutant Brain' by Sam Spiegel & Ape Drums featuring Jamaican vocalist Assassin a.k.a Agent Sasco and the commercial itself comes from the mind of Oscar winning director Spike Jonze, who in the past famously created some of the most innovative and memorable music video for artists such as Daft Punk, Beastie Boys, Chemical Brothers and Bjork, just to name a few really. It may also seem reminiscent of his video for Fatboy Slim’s ‘Weapon of Choice’ where we were mesmerized by Christopher Walken’s twinkle toes.

This entry however, kicks and stomps around, giving a fine beating to the status quo pretentiousness of perfume advertising, which was once reserved for classical symphonies but will now surely change the way the music industry and the rest of the world looks at perfume advertising forever.

The video also features the stunning Margaret Qualley from The Leftovers (both of which we love). Her moves were choreographed by Ryan Heffington whose work includes Sia’s ‘Chandelier’.

Watch the video below and turn up da bass!
