Thantawan Festival is set to make its debut on January 12-14 at the Lanna Rock Garden, nestled in Chiang Mai's scenic mountains in Hang Dong.

Promising to be a three-day celebration of arts, music, and community, the event also celebrates the full bloom of sunflower season.

Over 2000 sunflowers have been strategically planted across the festival site, which organisers mention as symbolising their commitment to fostering a sense of long-lasting joy, sustainability, and a belief in the abundance of luck and opportunities.

With a focus on the foundational principles of peace, love, unity, and respect (PLUR), the team behind Thantawan Festival have put extra time and effort into making sure the very first iteration will provide an inclusive and uplifting experience for all who attend.

Celebrating artistic diversity in all its forms, there will be a captivating array of visual art, dance performances, and live shows, including traditional Thai dance, choreographed troupes, circus acts, and mesmerising fire dancers.

Encouraging further interaction between artists and attendees, the festival grounds will also feature an art exhibition highlighting local Thai artists, and opportunities for festival-goers to create and purchase art.

A distinctive aspect of the festival is its commitment to sustainability. Organisers have implemented eco-conscious practices, including waste reduction and recycling programs, energy-efficient technologies, and the use of eco-friendly materials. There’s also the prioritising of sustainable food and beverage options and the forging of partnerships with local and organic suppliers.

“Thantawan Festival is more than just music; it's a celebration of our beautiful planet. Together, we can dance, sing, and celebrate while preserving the planet we love,” mention the organisers.

With over 48 food vendors offering the best of local cuisine and beyond, a treasure trove of creativity and craftmanship at the Thantawan Flea/Art Market plus a dedicated kid-friendly zone that hosts interactive workshops, exciting shows, bouncy castles and mindfulness practices, Thantawan Festival has made sure there’s something for everyone — and we haven’t even touched on the music.

Boasting five different stages, the three-day event promises a varied musical journey across different genres ranging from rock, pop, hip hop, EDM to techno.
