Symbol Audio & USM launch speaker collection built into modular furniture
The USM Speaker Module Collection comes with Sonos amplifier support & comes in 14 colour options
The boutique, analogue-focused American brand Symbol Audio has collaborated with Swiss modular furniture company USM to build speakers directly into the latter's iconic shelving system.
Built around a system of steel tubes and interchangeable panels, USM furniture is known for its precision engineering and long-term adaptability.
The USM Speaker Module Collection works within that same system, so the speakers don't sit beside your shelving unit but instead become part of it.
Sonically, the speakers use a two-way coaxial driver design, pairing a woofer with a fabric dome tweeter, and the cabinets are tuned to handle bass cleanly without needing a separate subwoofer in smaller spaces.
Sonos Amplifier integration is available across the range, so the system can be run wirelessly.

The collection covers a wide range of formats.
The Bookshelf Speaker is a compact stereo pair that works standalone or within a larger USM setup, the Audio Console combines speakers, vinyl storage, and hidden compartments into one freestanding piece, and the Audio Cart does the same thing on wheels.

Larger spaces can accommodate the HiFi Wall, Speaker Towers, and HiFi Bookcase, with a Large Speaker, Subwoofer, and HiFi Media Console rounding out the range.
All pieces come in 14 colour options (from a futuristic Light Grey and vibrant Pure Orange to a more subdued Steel Blue) to suit a wide range of aesthetic preferences.
Prices range from US$4,850 to US$18,505; more information here.
