IKEA releases colourful Bluetooth speakers in new Teklan line
The SOLSKYDD & KULGLASS collections combine striking patterns, flexible placement options & multi-speaker connectivity
IKEA’s new collaboration with Swedish designer Tekla Evelina Severin introduces speakers that are meant to stand out visually as much as they perform sonically.
Instead of hiding devices in corners, the partnership highlights colour, shape, and presence. As Sara Ottosson, Product Developer at IKEA of Sweden, explains: “Home electronics are often seen as purely functional, something many people want to hide. We want to change that.”
She continues: “We’re treating speakers with the same care as the rest of the home, so they contribute to a room’s atmosphere and personality not only through sound but also through form, colour and character.”
This approach shapes the SOLSKYDD speaker family, which features three round Bluetooth models tuned for both design and acoustics.
The smallest model is an orange unit with a bold graphic pattern, while the medium version comes in green with brown and beige diagonal stripes. Both can stand on their bases or hang, offering flexible placement.
The largest model, designed for wall mounting, features an orange textured finish and can be paired with a screen for a more integrated setup.

All SOLSKYDD speakers connect with one another and with other compatible IKEA Bluetooth models for multi-speaker mode. They also support Spotify Tap, enabling instant playback with a single press.
Across the collection, Teklan’s colourways wrap two-dimensional graphics around curved surfaces to create optical depth and vibrancy.
The collection also includes the KULGLASS lamp-speakers—one green and one red-brown with pink—which blend light, sound, and colour. Their swirl-shaped shade takes inspiration from soft-serve ice cream.

As Teklan explains, “I wanted this inviting shape to contrast the technical complexity we usually associate with high-quality sound. While the inside is advanced, the outside feels warm, open, and easy to understand. For the colours, I was chasing a soothing feeling from the past. The mint green came from a childhood memory, and I even went to my grandparents’ home to match it to the exact shade of an old bar of soap I remembered.”
She summarises the design philosophy simply: “Colour is such an emotional and powerful tool—it can completely change how we see an object.”
The new Teklan line begins sales globally this month (December) at participating IKEA stores, with launch dates varying by market.
