Take a tour around Superbooth through the eyes of Madame Gandhi

A new video from All Our Minds explores the 2024 edition of Berlin electronic music instrument and trade fair Superbooth, presented by Kiran Gandhi, aka Madame Gandhi.

The short film sees the award-winning American artist and activist travelling around the event upon her first time of attending, checking out the bounty of tech innovation on show, as well as talking through her own creative process.

This includes a presentation in the room hosted by All Our Minds, a music production collective, and music tech company Neumann. In it she explains how she uses field samples in her music, detailing a trip to Antarctica where she sampled the sound of glaciers melting and reworked them into innovative musical soundscapes.

“We came back with a bunch of penguin synthesisers, drum loops made out of ice, air, wind, the ocean — really just taking this beautiful Antarctic soundscape and making beats with it,” she explains.

As part of this process, she used the software NOW, a multitimbral comprehensive sampler, which aims to help artists unlock new creative possibilities in their work.

Rick Feds pops up in the video to quiz Madame Gandhi on this artistic work, while keen-eyed viewers will spot the likes of Perera Elsewhere and Sarah Farina in there too.

The video was shot and edited by Valquire Veljkovic, and conceptualised by Nadia Says at Your Mom's Agency, expanding on her work bringing DEI to major events such as Berlin Atonal. Watch it below.
