Suno launches service to press AI music onto vinyl

AI music firm Suno has unveiled a new vinyl pressing service, enabling its users to obtain a physical copy of music created on the platform.

Suno Vinyl gives account holders the opportunity to press AI creations onto a 12" black, eco-friendly PETG, with users able to design their own sleeve, labels and cover art; the service, which has not yet launched, will cost around $45, plus shipping, per pressing.

The firm is inviting users to join a first-come, first-serve waiting list to use Suno Vinyl ahead of its launch, with the ironic call to action, "Ready to hear yourself on vinyl?"

"Press a personal keepsake. Press a gift for a loved one. Or press a banger, because it's too good to live on a screen," the website for Suno Vinyl reads, adding that each vinyl is “a genuine pressed record, not a novelty cut.”

Speaking to Music Business Worldwide, a spokesperson for Suno said the "in-the-works service" has been established as "part of an effort to explore ways to give people physical versions of the music they create."

The new venture comes amid a shaky time for Suno, after a German court ruled that the firm was in breach of both the German and US copyright laws, and that it had used, stored and reproduced copyrighted material without permission from license holders. Suno has been ordered to pay undisclosed damages to artists represented by performance rights organisation GEMA.

Representatives for Suno rejected the ruling and said it is considering “all available options”, including an appeal.
