Houghton Festival “deeply saddened” by death of attendee at this year's event
The festival has released a statement after a woman was pronounced dead on-site
Houghton Festival has released a statement in response to the death of an attendee at this year’s edition.
"We are deeply saddened to confirm that a person has passed away at Houghton 2026. Our thoughts are entirely with their family and loved ones at this difficult time. We are grateful to our onsite medical team, event response team and to Norfolk Constabulary, who all responded immediately,” said the spokesperson for Houghton Festival in a statement sent to Mixmag.
"We continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to support in any way we can with their investigations."
Eastern Daily Press reports that a woman was found unconscious inside a tent on Sunday evening and treated by the on-site medical team, but despite their best efforts she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokeswoman speaking to the EDP said: "The death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious. Our enquiries are ongoing.
"Her next of kin have been informed."
The festival took place across August 6 to 9 this month, on the 1000-acre grounds of Houghton Hall in Norfolk.
