Mixmag Asia's 2026 Essential Listening is a regularly updated feature spotlighting releases from artists across Asia and the diaspora. If you're making music and think it deserves a spot, you can submit it for consideration to be included in the list.

What we've covered in 2026 so far should give you a feel for the breadth of what we're into: dancefloor-ready house and quirky deep house, Gqom filtered through a Southeast Asian sensibility, bass-heavy minimal techno, Indian disco-funk, acid disco on vinyl, meditative Buddhist-inspired electronics, and ambient collaborations born out of artist retreats.

There are also experimental hybrids sitting somewhere between IDM, musique-concrète, folk opera, and club music, plus downtempo hip hop and dub recorded on location.

Selected releases will also get a push on our Instagram from time to time, putting your music in front of an even wider audience.
