Shingo Takahashi to perform at District M's return for Singapore Design Week 2024

The much-anticipated second edition of District M is coming back to Singapore on October 4 and 5.

As part of Singapore Design Week's Neufolk: Bridging Tradition and Future in Design, District M will transform the Marina Central district into a vibrant, multi-genre musical experience across four festival zones: Marina Square, Millenia Walk, South Beach, and Suntec City.

After the success of its debut in 2023, District M returns with an even more exciting music line-up that spans genres from indie folk to hip hop and r’n’b.

DJ Shingo Takahashi is a standout in this year’s line-up, with a unique 45s-only set that blends soul, funk, hip-hop, jazz, and reggae. Known for his performances at Tokyo’s Aoyama Hachi and Shibuya Club BALL, the leader of Bee’s Knees Records will surely keep crowds moving.

Other exciting acts include YouTube-famous duo Jayesslee, indie-folk singer-songwriter Harrison Storm, and Singapore’s very own Alicia DC, jupiterkid, WHYLUCAS and Regina Song.

Each zone offers a unique musical atmosphere, from acoustic chill-out sessions at The Deck, energetic beats by Solid Gold DJs at Sound Park, indie pop offerings at the street-level Music Piazza and an eclectic mix of pop, jazz and blues at the Fountain Stage.

“Last year, we were heartened by the positive response towards DISTRICT M, which emboldened us to raise the bar and deliver a more holistic experience this year. With the addition of Neufolk, visitors can expect a variety of experiences, which is part of our initiative by stakeholders–shops, hotels, restaurants–to turn Marina Central into a must-visit, culturally vibrant hangout beyond a commercial enclave,” says Dawn Lai, Co-chairperson of Marina Central Business District and Chief Operating Officer, ESR Trust Management (Suntec) Limited.

In addition to music, District M makes sure there's something for everyone to enjoy with many fringe activities available all across the festival site.

Dive into arts and crafts such as Keychain Beading and Community Moss Framing, immerse in Digital Painting and a Cybertruck Lightshow by Tesla, challenge yourself to a game of Life-size Chess or join the Chess Meet and many more.

The District M two-day event is free of charge; for more information, head here.
