Premiere: Shaun Moses serves bewitching remix of Egbert & Metodi Hristov's 'Connect'

Shaun Moses returns to Gem Records with a spellbinding remix of 'Connect' by heavy-hitting techno duo, Egbert & Metodi Hristov.

The Goanese techno polymath has dazzled with previous outings on the likes of Octopus Recordings, Tronic Music, OFF Recordings, Alleanza Records, Hydrozoa Records and more. Last year's 'Lustful Desires' EP marked his debut on Gem Records – the revered label run by Dutch techno hero, Secret Cinema – and his return to the imprint marks an understandably proud moment for Moses. “When I played with Jeroen at a festival last year-end in India we spoke about me making a return to gem records in 2022. I mentioned how I'd love to have an opportunity to do a remix as I hadn't done one in a while,” Moses tells Mixmag Asia. When he learned of Egbert & Metodi Hristov's forthcoming collaboration on the label, it didn't take long for him to make up his mind. “This was the opportunity I'd been waiting for. Having been a huge fan of both these artists for a long time now, I jumped at the invitation and didn't look back!”

Having got to grips with the floor-focused original version of 'Connect', Shaun opted to add some variation to the release, taking the music deep into techno's leftfield. “I decided to give a different flavour to this remix and do something very different. The original is more peak time four/four, whereas the remix I made is breakbeat, raw, loopy and more percussion-based.” True to his intention, the Shaun Moses remix bewitches as it unfurls, with scattered drums and fizzing percussion driving undulating synths over a meandering, nocturnally-charged arrangement. “I've gotten some amazing reviews so far from a few big names in the scene – and the label boss Secret Cinema of course,” Shaun purrs. “I honestly cannot wait for it to release next week!”
