Shaun Moses delivers peak-time glory on Secret Cinema's Gem Records

If the name of your game is techno, there is an expectation for you to take it seriously.

That goes without saying for one of Goa’s best exports, Shaun Moses. Octopus Recordings, Tronic Music, OFF Recordings, Alleanza Records and Hydrozoa Records are just a handful of global imprints that proudly host Shaun’s esoteric take on techno. His latest release, ‘Lustful Desires EP’ via Secret Cinema’s Gem Records, is nothing short of peak-time revelry with just the right dose of deep-toned layers.

“The A side ‘Lustful Desires’ is a more peak time tune with heavy drums, a deep sub and 3 hypnotic synths all complementing each other to form their own groove,” says Shaun about the EP’s lead track. “The B side, ‘Dreams of Reality’, takes on a peak time too but with deep moody hooks and a breakbeat style. Both are backed up by two stunning remixes by label residents DJ Lion and RSRRCT.”

Despite having a slew of productions signed up by his most desirable labels, and getting regular playtime from the likes of Charlotte De Witte, Paul Ritch, Enrico Sangiuliano and Amotik, Shaun remains incredibly humbled by his release on the seminal imprint — “It's truly an honour for a legend in the dutch techno scene (Secret Cinema) to have picked these tunes and sign them to his label after hearing and testing them out, and I couldn't be more grateful for the support from him.”

Timeless music for the dance floor is what labels like Gem Records are all about, and artists like Shaun Moses live up to that expectation with what seems like effortless and untainted talent. The expectations seem to be high for Shaun’s trajectory as a producer and purveyor of refined techno, and that’s perfectly fine by us to look forward to.
