Secret Theatre is going digital for the first time with a new immersive thriller

What happens when evil escapes? A new immersive digital experience has been launched by Secret Theatre Projects in association with Zeds Dead, Baby Films. Entitled Redemption Room, the experience will “take participants on a thrilling journey where they will get to decide the fate of six disgraced celebrities as they compete and seek redemption for their societal crimes”. This will be the first time Secret Theatre is going digital: the experience will be live globally in a Zoom studio. Think ‘Black Mirror’ meets ‘The Silent Lamb’.

These six ‘disgraced celebrities’ will respectively be from Hong Kong, London, Singapore, Mumbai, Sydney and New York, and audience members will get to participate in the experience by acting as the judges and the executioners. Prior to the show, participating audience members will be allowed to contact each of the six celebrities via email. What would your email to a serial killer say?

The immersive experience will screen in Hong Kong and Singapore from February 25 to March 13. The website notes that if you want to have the full experience, you may light candles and have ouija boards ready when you enter the Zoom studio. In other words, Secret Theatre is…not playing around.

Secret Theatre is a globally renowned immersive project that started in 2008 with their Edward Scissorhands show at an abandoned factory in New York. Their Code 2024 immersive experience in 2019 was sold out in both London and Hong Kong. Other works include their Freakazoid show at an asylum, Reservoir Dogs in a secret warehouse, SE7EN DEADLY SINS in a haunted mansion by way of a 'a doomed boat trip'. The theatre group has had several shows in Singapore and Hong Kong, and director Richard Crawford has implied that they intend to continue with future shows in Asia.
