Optimo's JD Twitch to recieve posthumous honour at Scottish Music Awards 2025

Keith McIvor, better known as JD Twitch, is set to receive the Special Recognition Award at this year’s Scottish Music Awards.

According to STV, the award will recognise Mclvor's lifelong contribution to the Scottish underground music scene in establishing the legendary Optimo (Espacio) Sunday-night party at Glasgow's Sub Club, and his work in the DJ duo of the same name alongside Jonnie 'JG' Wilkes.

Keith McIvor died on 19 September, aged 57, just 11 weeks after announcing that he had been diagnosed with an untreatable brain tumour.

“His belief in people and the idea that standing together, that our collective strength is powerful, was unwavering. I loved him for that,” Mclvor's DJ partner JG Wilkes wrote in a tribute on Instagram following his death.

In a statement shared via Instagram, the Scottish Music Awards described Keith as "a true pioneer of Scotland’s electronic music scene", whose "influence reached far beyond the club culture of Edinburgh and Glasgow, shaping generations of artists and music lovers around the world."

"His legacy lives on through the countless lives, dancefloors, and artists he inspired throughout his remarkable career," the Scottish Music Awards' post continues.

The 2025 Scottish Music Awards will take place at Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on Saturday (November 8). Other honourees for this year's awards include Lewis Capaldi, Simon Neil, Richard Ashcroft, and Moira McKenzie, among others.
