Satoshi Fumi crafts emotive deep house cuts on the ‘Sublime EP’

The Tokyo-based artist returns to Bedrock Records with three elegantly composed grooves

Tokyo’s Satoshi Fumi returns to Bedrock Records with an emotion-heavy collection, serving three luscious deep house jams on the ‘Sublime EP’.

Inspired by the formative electronic sounds of Detroit, Chicago and New York, Fumi began producing in the late ‘00s and quickly found supporters among some of the most revered names in the wider dance underground. With scores of releases on the likes of Get Physical, Moodmusic, We Play House, King Street Sounds and more, his evolving sounds have captured the attention of selectors as diverse as Laurent Garnier, Ken Ishii, Chris Coco, and Ashley Beedle among many others.

The ‘Sublime EP’ sees Fumi resume his long-standing relationship with John Digweed’s acclaimed Bedrock imprint and features three gorgeously refined productions that are each steeped in emotive atmospherics. The title track features celestial pads and evocative synth motifs cascading over crisp rhythms, while ‘NNDK’ ups the energy with stirring chords and intricate synth work pouring over fizzing snare rolls and propulsive bass notes. Finally, the rush-inducing swells of ‘Shargri La’ provide a rousing finale, with life-affirming chords and heartfelt melodies combining over club-ready rhythms for an unfettered hands-in-the-air climax.
