Groundbreaking Japanese DJ, ryota, is known for setting trends in the Osaka underground scene—now, he’s set to bring his signature blend of bass music to a new audience in Hong Kong.

Flying to the Fragrant Harbour via invitation of multidisciplinary crew OONEFIVENINE and Mixmag Asia, the event marks ryota’s next big step in his global takeover, fresh off his signing with Untitled Group’s Proxy Agency and gearing up for a debut China tour.

Born and raised in Osaka, Japan, ryota has been a pivotal figure in the underground music scene since the beginning of his DJ career. His passion for drum and bass led him to develop a unique sound that seamlessly integrates UKG, bass music, and breakbeat.

In 2019, he co-founded the DJ collective and event series FULLHOUSE with several like-minded artists, which quickly became renowned for its vibrant parties and international guest artists, including Sherelle, Yung Singh, and Partiboi69, making waves in Osaka and Tokyo.

Ryota's innovative approach and high-octane sets have earned him international acclaim. His Boiler Room Osaka set showcased his knack for captivating crowds with an eclectic mix and raw energy.

He’s also torn up prestigious platforms and events such as Spotify Japan VIP Program, Diesel × NTS Radio, Rinse FM (London), and BBC Radio 6 Music’s Sweatbox Mix, along with collabs that span major brands like Nike and Verdy Sounds.

As Yung Singh puts it: “ryota is one of the most electric DJs I’ve ever seen” who not only “destroys a dancefloor” but is also “more deserving of a bigger platform to showcase their talent.”
